About Migrant Innovation Northern Territory(Visa 190/491 - MINT)
MINT Program is aiming to assist overseas nationals obtain Northern Territory government nomination if they meet the following:
- Show commitment to supporting the Northern Territory’s innovation ecosystem, and
- Meet the nomination criteria set by the Northern Territory government
This program has a total of no more than 50 visa nominations per program year. The nominations must be for the relevant state/territory nominated visas under the General Skills Migration Program or the Business Innovation and Investment Program.
Visa Options:
- 190 Skilled Nominated visa (5 years PR)
- 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (5 years TR)
MINT Program benefits
- Invest in an investment fund approved by the state government, so the state government guarantees quickly
- A relatively moderate investment amount of AUD 515,000 (compared to immigrant investor visas)
- Low risks as 80% of the 515,000 AUD (or 412,000 AUD) will be used to buy the Northern Territory government bonds, with an interest rate of 1.2%/year
- Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory, is the closest Australian city to Asia, very suitable for import and export trade
- The number of recognized occupations is as high as 250, much more than the number of occupations recognized by Visa 189
- No need to study in Australia, applicants can directly receive Visa 190 for permanent residence or Visa 491 for temporary residence
MINT Program requirements
- The main applicant should be under 45 years old
- Having competent English (IELTS: at least 6 for each of the 4 component)
- Having sufficient funds of their own for settlement in Northern Territory
- Occupation needs to be on the Northern Territory occupation list
- Recommended to have 5 years working experience
- At least 65 points in the general skill migration point system
